Bankier facing two tournaments in two weeks
A big fortnight looms for Scotland's Imogen Bankier. This week, she competes in Djarum Indonesia Super Series in Jakarta and then it is on to the Thailand Open Grand Prix in Bangkok.
Currently ranked No.17 in the world in mixed doubles with England's Edinburgh-born Robert Blair, the pair will celebrate their first year together on this Asian trip. They are unseeded in Indonesia and are the No.6 seeds in Thailand.
In the women's doubles, Bankier will form a new partnership at both tournaments with England's Suzanne Rayappan.
While unfortunate to miss out on Olympic selection, Blair and Bankier are already beginning the build-up to the 2012 Games in London and the goal over the next year will be to creep closer to the world's top ten.
Britain is a strong force in mixed doubles. Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson won Olympic silver in 2004 and they will be joined by Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg as serious medal contenders in China this year.
Emms has already announced that she will be retiring after the Olympics - the intriguing question is: Who will Nathan choose as his new partner? He is already committed to staying on in the sport until the London Games.
