Bankier and Blair suffer shock exit

Bankier and Blair exit in second round
Glasgow's Imogen Bankier and England's Robert Blair, the world No.13 pair, suffered a shock defeat from South Koreans Yeon Song Yoo and Min Jung Kim in the second round of the Super Series Japan Open.
Having had a bye through the first round, the No.3 seeds, who reached the quarter-finals in Taiwan Super Series last week, were outplayed by an unseeded couple and lost 14-21 15-21 to the world ranked No.34 pair.
But Edinburgh-born Blair had better fortune in the men's doubles, reaching the quarter-finals with his new young partner, Chris Adcock. In a terrifically close match, the unseeded English duo beat the No.8 ranked Indonesians, Handra Aprida Gunawan and Joko Riyada, 22-20 21-23 21-19.
In the women's doubles, Bankier and England's Sarah Bok lost 14-21 15-21 in the first round to the Thailand pair of Duang Anong Aroonhesorn and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul.
