Scots handed tough draw at World Badminton Championships

Scottish hopefuls Alistair Casey and Susan Egelstaff have both been handed tough draws at next month's World Championships in Hyderabad, India.

Glasgow's Casey, ranked 65th in the world, will begin his campaign against Bulgaria's Stilian Makarski with the winner going on to meet 15th seed Chetan Anand of India or Korean Hong Ji Hoon.

While fellow Glaswegian Egelstaff, born Susan Hughes, will face Finland's number one Anu Nieminen, the 2000 Bank of Scotland International champion, in the opening round.

World number 28 Egelstaff, who claimed Commonwealth Games bronze in 2006, would face fourth seed Wang Yihan of China, should she prove victorious in her opening round match.

The World Championships, which get underway on August 10, came under scrutiny in April after a number of terrorist attacks in the sub-continent.
