Sky's the limit for Highland starlet
At just 13 years-old, Charis Mair from Inverness is already making her mark in the athletics world.
For the member of Inverness Harriers already holds the British (U-15) age-group record in high jump (1.67m).
When not scaling the heights she can also be found blasting down the 100m track in 12.97 seconds.
Unsuprisingly, her coach Diane MacKenzie refers to her young protégé as "a very good all rounder. She's great at long jump, sprinting, hurdles and high jump," says the level 2 Scottish Athletics coach from Inverness.
"To be honest, as she is still growing I don't know what discipline will ultimately be her best but at the moment she is an excellent sprinter and high jumper."
Whilst nurturing her young talent, MacKenzie is clear the priority is to ensure Mair continues to have fun in the sport.
"At the moment, it's just about enjoying the sport and not pushing her too hard. I do try to work her a little bit more than the others but you have to be careful not to push too much or she'll (get fed up and) stop by the time she's 16," says the former national level 200m and 400m runner.
Certainly, Mair is in good hands. Last year MacKenzie's own daughter, Rachael, was Scotland's top senior female high jumper with a clearance of 1.76m.
Brian Burgess, the Edinburgh based 1978 Commonwealth Games high jump bronze medallist, also provides technical input to Mair's high jump programme.
With such support to hone her natural talent, the sky may well be the limit for young Mair.
