Beth Potter hopeful that the Falkirk Cup can be magic for Scotland
Scottish middle-distance runner Beth Potter is convinced that she can learn her lessons from her European Junior Championships adventure and spur Scotland to victory in next month's Falkirk Cup in Grangemouth.
The 17-year-old clocked a time of 9:18.81 in the 3000m in Serbia to come away from the Championships with an impressive fifth placed finish.
But it was the experience of competing against top-class athletes that Potter feels will hold her in good stead ahead of facing England, Ethiopia, Ireland and a Bank of Scotland Development team on August 26.
"The European Junior Championships was a big stepping stone for me and running with athletes from all over the world really helped me," said Potter - who is one of 15 up-and-coming athletes selected for the UK Athletics Heroes Project, supported by Original Source.
"I learnt how to run in packs better and I'm sure that will help me improve my times.
"We have fantastic coaches and physiotherapists in Scotland so everything is definitely looking good for the Falkirk Cup."
