Beth Potter going for gold at European Junior Championships
Scottish athlete Beth Potter is gunning for a European Junior Championship medal this weekend in Serbia, preferably gold.
The 17-year-old, who booked her spot in Novi Sad with 3000m victory in the England under-20 Championships in Bedford last month, is currently ranked second in Europe behind GB teammate Kate Avery.
And with Potter's personal best less than half a second behind Avery the Victoria Park athlete is confident her Serbian adventure will be one to remember.
"I'm aiming for a medal and I'll be disappointed if I don't get on the podium," said Potter, who is one of 15 up-and-coming athletes selected for the UK Athletics Heroes Project, supported by Original Source.
"Obviously I would like it to be gold but if I can get in the top three I'll be happy.
"Kate Avery is top of the rankings at the moment and I am second but I am sure the Russians will be on our tail.
"But I am going there with a lot of confidence because I ran well in Bedford and hopefully I can do it again in Serbia."
