Difficult conditions prove the undoing of Scotland's Jayne Nisbet
High jumper Jayne Nisbet was left to rue what might have been after a below par performance at the Aviva World Trials and UK Championships in Birmingham saw her walk away empty handed.
The 20-year-old Edinburgh AC star couldn't get going at the Alexander Stadium as a swirling wind wreaked havoc on her campaign and resulted in a ninth-place finish.
Nisbet could only manage a best leap of 1.74m, eight centimetres down on her personal best, and admitted the conditions got the better of her in the Midlands.
"One minute the wind was in your face and then the next minute it wasn't so I had to keep moving my run-up around," said Nisbet.
"I am confident I can get things back up and running again because I feel in really good shape. I was just unlucky with the conditions in Birmingham and that is a shame.
"I have been training all over the place the past couple of weeks and I am hoping it will settle down by the end of the season."
