Morrison back to winning ways
World duathlon champion Catriona Morrison marked her comeback from injury by winning the Scottish National Standard Distance Triathlon Championships on Saturday and was the winning woman at the Southern Uplands 105 mile Sportive on Sunday.

Morrison had been out of action for several months after injuring her right knee during a routine training session in mid-April.

On a blustery day in Gullane, East Lothian, Morrison braved and conquered the cold Scottish seas before completing the bike ride and cross country run to claim the crown of Scottish Champion. Though she wasn’t entirely satisfied with her performance.

“The engine was going but I did not seem to have any turbo charge. I guess I am just a little disappointed that I did not have as much fire in the belly as I would have liked.

“However I finished with no knee pain and in pretty good shape, so mission accomplished for the day.”

On Sunday, keen to test herself again, Morrison then took on the Southern Upland Way. Starting in Wanlockhead – the highest village in Scotland – and covering 105 miles and 2000 metres of climbing, the Southern Uplands Sportive at 725 metres it is the highest race in Scotland.

Despite suffering a puncture, Morrison found her ‘fire’ and stormed the field, finishing as the fastest woman.
