McWilliam shortlisted for award

Kirsty McWilliam, Junior World Triathlon champion, has been shortlisted in the Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year awards.

The University of Stirling student has been shortlisted in the Young Sportswomen category back of an outstanding sporting year.

McWilliam, from Milton on Campsie, collected a silver medal at the European Junior Triathlon Championships in May and was crowned ITC Junior World Triathlon Champion in Vancouver in June.

The awards, which will take place at Lords Cricket Ground on Thursday 12th February, were selected by a judging panel which included Dame Tanni-Gray Thompson and Jill Douglas. Alongside the Scot, they selected Wimbeldon junior champion Laura Robson, downhill mountain biker Rachel Atherton, cricketer Holly Colvin and weightlifter Zoe Smith.
