Triathlete David McNamee named in British under-23 squad
Stirling triathlete David McNamee is set to make his debut appearance at an international championships after being named in Great Britain’s under-23 World Triathlon Championship squad.
McNamee, 21, earns the call-up after an impressive debut appearance in the Dextro Energy ITU World Championship Series in Kitzbuhel.
The performance earned McNamee a 17th place finish at senior level and British Triathlon performance director Heather Williams believes the squad are in good shape to return home from the Gold Coast ITU Triathlon World Championships on 11 September with medals to declare.
“The GB U23 World Triathlon Championship Team has some very talented triathletes, who are already competitive on a senior level,” said Williams.
“In 2008, Alistair Brownlee won gold in the Men’s U23 event and this year I am confident that we have the athletes to repeat this in Australia.”
