Lee McConnell targets injury-free season after lengthy lay-off
Lee McConnell is praying her injury nightmare is finally behind her as she steps up her preparations for the Berlin World Championships in August.
McConnell's Olympic Games were put to a premature end last summer as she tore a quad muscle which forced her to pull out of the 4x400 relay heats in the Beijing Bird?s Nest.
But the 30-year-old, who has targeted the London 2012 Olympics as her final major event, insists she is in the shape of her life.
"I've had quite a hard two years with injuries," said McConnell. "I just want to try and actually be on the start line in physically good condition.
"Last year I tore a quad at completely the wrong time so this year I want to be there without any injuries.
"I've made improvements over the winter and hopefully those will show this season."
