Lee McConnell ready to return to fold after hamstring injury
Sprinter Lee McConnell insists her bid for a place on the plane to the World Championships is back on track after seeing an injury specialist in Germany.
A shadow was cast over the 30-year-old's potential participation in Berlin after she pulled out of the Aviva World Trials and UK Championships with what was then though to be a hamstring injury.
However a trip to Munich at her own expense to see sports medicine specialist Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wolfahrt paid dividends as he discovered that her sacro-iliac join was out of alignment.
McConnell had to have a serious of 12 injections over the course of her two-day stay and will now prove her fitness at the Crystal Palace Grand Prix on Friday.
"Everything was manipulated back into place and he has treated me before with up to 12 injections per session, maybe three dozen in a week, so everything was fine," said McConnell.
"I have already been able to train but I am a bit tender from all the manipulation. There was no soft tissue injury so that is good news."
