Kelly Holmes backs Glasgow 2014 to cure any London 2012 hangovers
Double Olympic gold medalist Kelly Holmes insists the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will be the perfect pick-me-up for any London 2012 hangovers.
After GB's success in Beijing, where their 47 medals saw them finish fourth in the overall table - the build up to the London Games has already begun in earnest.
With the focus so intent on London, critics have predicted a capital city hangover but with Glasgow on the horizon Holmes is adamant the future is bright.
"Glasgow are really up for it and really up for putting on a good show up there and I'm sure they will," said Holmes, who was unveiled as the new President of Commonwealth Games England this week.
"I know from speaking to people up there that it's going to be great.
"It is going to come two years after the London Olympics when we're all going to be in a void and everyone is going to have a bit of an anti-climax in 2013.
"We have created over the last four years, and will continue to create over the next three, a real sporting culture which might have been lost a bit without Glasgow.
"The great think about Glasgow is that it will pick everything up again, the champions from London will be able to compete again on home turf in 2014 which allows us to keep the momentum going."
