Claire Gibson determined to win it for Scots at Falkirk Cup
Scottish 800m champion Claire Gibson has thrown down the gauntlet to the auld enemy, England, ahead of next month's Falkirk Cup in Grangemouth.
The 26-year-old has been on red hot form this season claiming the Scottish title in June and hitting the Commonwealth Games qualifying standard in Oslo at the start of the month.
Gibson will captain the Scottish team that is set to face England lead by Craig Pickering, Ethiopia, Ireland and a Bank of Scotland Development team on August 26.
Scotland hasn't tasted defeat in the Falkirk Cup since 2005 and Gibson insists the home nation will be going all out to make sure 2009 isn't the year they lose their crown.
"We have won the event for the past three years and we will be doing everything we can to win it again," said Gibson.
"I think we can push England all the way, a lot of athletes will be chasing Commonwealth qualifying times and the standard will be very high as a result."
