Something tells you 11 year-old Ellen Kristofferson is an athlete with a very bright future.
For at a Young Athletes League meeting at Grangemouth on Sunday, the talented Lasswade lass cleared the bar at 1.46metres, establishing a new Young Athlete's League record at U-13 level for the discipline.
Moreover, her record breaking jump came just a week after Kristofferson became the UK's best U-13 high jumper, clearing the bar at a staggering 1m 50 en route to winning her event at an athletics meeting at Meadowbank in Edinburgh.
And according to her high jump coach, the former Commonwealth Games medallist Brian Burgess, the schoolgirl with an impressive spring in her step may be destined for even greater things in the athletics world.
"She's jumping out of her socks. To jump 1m 50 at 11 years-old is fantastic," exclaimed Burgess.
Kristofferson will soon be in action again when the Scottish Schools Championships get underway in Grangemouth on 13th – 14th June.
