Libby Clegg hoping to improve on Beijing silver at Manchester World Cup
Edinburgh sprinter Libby Clegg has vowed not to settle for second best at the BT Paralympic World Cup as she takes to the track for the first time since Beijing.
The 19-year-old claimed Paralympic 100m silver in September in the Far East but was no match for Ukrainian Oxana Boturchuk would ran the second fastest time ever to secure gold.
Clegg is yet to brush away the Paralympic cobwebs but insists a lack of track time won't stop her getting one over the double world champion as she prepares for a rematch of the Beijing final in Manchester.
"I have been training for a while now and the World Cup will be a real test to see how everything is going for the first time since Beijing," said Clegg, who has a 100m personal best of 12.51 seconds.
"It is great that things will be similar to Beijing, you always want the competition to be strong so that you get the best out of yourself.
"I won't forget Beijing in a hurry and I still look back at my performance now and think about how pleased I was to achieve what I did. I just hope to start this year off with a win that I know I am capable of."
