Eilidh Child enhances hopes of World Championship qualification after smashing PB
Hurdler Eilidh Child is one step closer to the World Championships in Berlin after smashing her personal best for the fourth time this season.
The 22-year-old clocked a superb 55.46 seconds in the 400m hurdles in Prague and secured the UK Athletics 'A' qualifying standard.
Child finished second behind America's Lashinda Demus at the Josef Odlozil Memorial Meeting in the Czech Republic but must now head to the UK Championships in Birmingham next month in order to secure her place on the plane to Germany.
The City of Glasgow sprinter has now knocked more than one-and-a-half seconds off her lifetime best since the start of the year.
"She ran the perfect race in Prague," said coach Stuart Hogg. "She beat two Beijing Olympic finalists and that's encouraging."
