Eilidh Child aiming to be top Scot of all time in Berlin
Kinross 400m hurdler Eilidh Child is convinced she has what it takes to become the best that Scotland has ever seen – and will prove it at this month’s World Championships.
The 22-year-old is heading to Berlin with Sinead Dudgeon’s ten-year-old Scottish record of 55.24 seconds firmly in her sights.
Child set a new PB of 55.32 seconds on her way to silver at the European Under-23 Championships last month and is confident of going even lower in Berlin.
She said: “My immediate target now is the Scottish record. I’m really close to that and I know that I can break it sooner rather than later.
“I would love to break it at the World Championships and show everybody what I can do – what better stage to break your own national record than in front of the rest of the world?
“With all the other athletes pushing you along I think there’s a real possibility that I could do it – I’m so close.”
