Glasgow sprinter Susan Begg vows to get back on track
Glasgow sprinter Suzanne Begg has vowed to leave no stone unturned in her bid to get back on track following a season of injury.
The 18-year-old – who favours the 200m - has spent 12 months recovering from a hip operation, and is raring to return to action as she bids to return to the top of the Scottish under-20 rankings.
And although the Rutherglen teenager is a few months away from full fitness, she has already set her sights on retrieving the No.1 ranking which she held before her lay-off.
“I’ll have dropped down completely now because I didn’t run at all last season,” said Begg, who is part of the Lloyds TSB Local Heroes initiative.
“I’ve been out for too long, so there will be a shock for everyone when I come back and I am back on top.
“It’ll take quite a lot of work to get back to number one, but I’m willing to put the effort in and if I have to train twice-a-day, seven days a week, then I’ll do it.”
