26 Scots offered support for Commonwealth Games in 2010
Pole vaulter Hen Paxton heads up a list of 26 Scottish athletes offered support in the build up to next year’s Commonwealth Games in India.
The 26-year-old scooped the Scottish pole vault title in June and joins Stephen Lisgo – who finished fifth in the steeplechase at the European Under-23 Championships – as the top athletes.
Scottish hammer champion Mark Dry retains his place after another successful year while Lennie Watie is a new face in the 26-strong squad.
And Scottish Athletics head coach Laurier Primeau said: “We are proud to be able to deliver this support programme in partnership with Sport Scotland.
“Access to area institute resources, warm weather training and appropriate medical facilitation are key components to athlete support.
“Orchestrating all of these factors in athlete development are the coaches, and it is important to recognise the integral role that they play.
“Providing these tools through the Commonwealth Games Support Programme is one way that Scottish Athletics and Sport Scotland can have a positive effect on coach effectiveness and resultant athlete performance.”
