Eilidh Child unhappy with silver at European under-23s
Eilidh Child grabbed 400m hurdles silver at the European Under-23 and clocked a new lifetime best in the process, but was to rue what might have been.
The 22-year-old Pitreavie ace crossed the line in 55.32 aseconds, just 0.06 secs behind compatriot Perri Shakes-Drayton.
That performance shaved 0.04 secs off the personal best she set in Bedford in June but Child revealed she found missing out on gold difficult to stomach.
"I hate getting beaten, but it was a good race," she said. "I thought I was going to catch her on the line but I ran out of track."
Child has been in fine form all season and captured silver at the England Under-23 Championships last month, as well as finishing fourth at the European Team Championships in Portugal in June.
Child's medal was one of seven for GB on a successful day in Kaunas, taking their overall tally to 13.
