Lawrence Tynes suffers mixed fortunes in 2009 season opener
Lawrence Tynes had mixed fortunes as New York Giants beat Carolina Panthers 24-17 in their opening pre-season match.
The Greenock-born kicker nailed a 46-yard field goal in the final quarter but also missed a kick from 43 yards.
Tynes needs a solid season after losing his place to veteran kicker John Carney last season.
The kicker had been troubled by a groin injury in the build-up to the match but was declared fit to play.
