Tigers win derby

Glsagow Tigers won the big inter-city battle at the start of the new season with a 16-0 win over Edinburgh Wolves at Meadowbank.

The Tigers, led by quarterback Ally Choat, opened the scoring midway through the first half when running back Ian Dick scampered around the left side 15 yards for the touchdown.

Glasgow then scored a two-point conversion to make the score 8-0.

The Wolves defence held until the after the break, when an errant pass in their own end zone led to a Tigers safety.

The home side finished off the Wolves in the fourth quarter when Dick again scored, this time from 13 yards out.

Glasgow Mets won the men's Scottish Cup for the first time in their history after a terrific five-set battle with Rucanor Jets.

Mets came back from 2-1 down on sets to take the trophy 18-25 25-12 23-25 25-22 15-9 to complete a cup double after winning the Top Teams Cup earlier in the season.

Setter Alan Krawczyk gave a mature performance and hitter Ivan Poupaznick provided the main hitting threat.

Troon PA won the women's Scottish Cup for the first time in four years as they beat Rucanor Jets 25-22 25-20 24-26 25-14.

The Ayrshire side let a 22-28 lead slip in the third set but made no mistake in the final set to clinch victory.
