East Kilbride Pirates opened their season with a crushing 62-12 over West Coast Trojans in Renfrew.

Ryan Hunter scored three touchdowns and Craig Towler two as the Pirates went to the top of the British Division One North League.

Edinburgh Wolves lost their season-opener 27-0 at Manchester Titans.

Head coach Don Edmonston admitted the capital side had faced a difficult first match.

"It was a tough game for us," he said, "We fought hard but Manchester were well organised and quite efficiently run.

"In the second half we made adjustments and managed to contain them but we couldn't quite reach the endzone."
