After missing two cuts in a row, North Berwick's Catriona Matthew got her season back on a better track with a tie for 26th in the Stanford International Pro-am in Miami.

Following a fine 70 in the third round, the Scottish No.1, who will not be in the field for this week's Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies' Scottish Open at Loch Lomond, closed with a level par 71 over the tough Soffer course at the Turnberry Resort to move through the field and finish on three over par.

Mhairi McKay, who will be one of the favourites at Loch Lomond, continued her roller coaster season. The Turnberry golfer started brightly with two rounds of 71, but a final day 77 saw her slip out of the top 50 on nine over par.

Glasgow's Janice Moodie missed the cut. She was within sight of the lead after an opening 69 in the first round but then collapsed to an 81 and missed the weekend by two shots.

The Stanford title went to Annika Sorenstam. The Swede claimed her 71st career victory on the LPGA Tour by beating American Paula Creamer at the first hole of a sudden-death play-off.

Sorenstam has battled back to full fitness after an injury-hit 2007 season and won the first tournament on this Tour, the SBS Open in Hawaii.

One ahead at the start of the final round, Sorenstam closed with a 70, while Creamer, who had edged one in front with two to play, dropped a shot at the 17th on her way to a 69. Both tied on eight under par after the 72 holes.
