Exciting new youth venture

The Edinburgh Wolves are delighted to announce the support of a new youth team serving the Forth Valley region from East Lothian to Fife and beyond.

The new club is called the Forth Valley Fusion and is a combined effort of the Fife Gridiron Association and the Edinburgh Gridiron Club, as key members of the EGC the Wolves have also pledged their support to the Fusion.

The Fusion team is aimed at ages 16-19 and is based in Dunfermline at the brand new Duloch Sports Centre, and aims to take part in the British league from 2009.

Forth Valley Football enjoys support from two established programmes from either side of the Forth giving the team has a solid foundation, and gives players from both Edinburgh (wolves) and Fife's (fife) flourishing Junior (14-16) programmes an opportunity to continue their careers in the sport.

Forth Valley's newly-appointed Head Coach Don Edmonston commented: "I'm very excited to be part of this new venture. I am lucky enough to have been able to get to a very high level with the GB Lions and the Scottish Claymores and now I am excited to be in a position to help with this fantastic new venture. With this new team we hope to give everyone the chance to play football at a young age and that early start can help them reach their full potential."

Edinburgh Wolves General Manager, Douglas Adamson noted, "Both in Edinburgh and Fife kids have taken to American Football. The clubs are thriving and some excellent players are coming through the ranks.

"With the coaching talent and playing talent available on both sides of the Forth both Fife and Edinburgh enjoy successful junior programs, but with this new joining of forces not only will the Forth Valley Fusion players benefit from state of the art facilities they will also receive the best coaching possible.

"As well as providing a team to play for in a means to itself it also provides a platform for players to continue their career as they prepare for the adult leagues."
