Lawrence Tynes had mixed fortunes as teh New York Giants went down 13-10 to Detroit Lions in their opening pre-season game.

The Greenock-born kicker made a 33-yard field goal but also missed a 44-yard attempt in the second quarter.

The Super Bowl champions were unconcerned about the loss as they are still working on things before the new season.

Tynes has changed his approach to kicking in an attempt to be more explosive.

But he has warned that there will be some early errors before it all clicks into place.
