Mark Beaumont moves into Canada on his trans-American cycle
Scottish adventurer Mark Beaumont has achieved his second major milestone on his trans-American cycle by moving across the Alaskan border into Northern Canada and the uncompromising conditions of the Yukon Territory.
After successfully scaling Denali Mountain in the freezing conditions of the USA’s largest state, Beaumont’s biggest test on Canadian soil will be coping with the harsh weather conditions and huge patches of remote wilderness as he continues his 15,000 mile journey to the southern tip of Argentina.
Having already dealt with the hostile Alaskan climate, the Canadian weather will be second nature to the expeditionist, and he is expected to reach the USA by early August.
So far on his trip, as well as conquering Denali, Mark has cycled through an earthquake, and suffered a minor setback when he broke a pedal on his bike and a puncture within a few days of each other.
His sister, Heather, met him in Southern Alaska to offer some much needed company to his lonely journey.
